Since NPR is such an upstanding organization, why does it need taxpayer cash?

Such an upstanding organization should be able to compete in the free marketplace of ideas, right?

Yes ….I find it appalling to have to fund hate towards my beliefs

Because it actually presents fact instead of entertainment.
You do notice how libraries aren’t big money makers right?

If you understood how the media worked, you would realize marketing people for businesses aren’t going to fund something that isn’t going to attract those who aren’t easily misled into buying their product.

Use a little logic patches, if you have the ability to do so.
You as a business owner… who would you advertise with?
    A) station that has listeners that want truth and question everything, or
    B) station that attracts dullards that believe anything they are told?

Only about 2-3% of their funds come from tax payer monies. But if they are going to be biased then I think that they shouldn’t get a dime from taxes.

Let’s face it, NPR is dry and boring. They don’t have somebody freaking out, screaming at the top of their lungs, and then crying the next minute. What gets ratings is drama and not information.

It’s a public organization. Like PUBLIC schools, PUBLIC libraries, PUBLIC transportation, etc. Anything that has the word "public" attached to it is funded in part by…um…the public. And truth be told, public radio and television programming doesn’t get a whole lot from the government. The majority of the funds that keep them running come from private donations, especially donations collected during pledge drives. Believe me, if NPR relied on tax dollars alone, they wouldn’t survive since tax dollars only cover 1-2%.
